23 Dune Memes to Spice Your Sci-Fi Sense of Comedy

Dune: Part Three is finally coming, after what feels like three complete centuries. When I watched the first part, I hadn't seen any of the original movies nor had I read any of the books. So of course, I was not expecting it to last two and a half hours. Some of my friends convinced me to go with them to the movie theater, and I accepted with no knowledge of what was about to begin in my life. I got there, bought some popcorn, and sat down to enjoy the longest introductory episode ever made.

When we left, all I did was complain. I argued it was too long to watch, too slow, too orange, too sandy, and on and on. At the same time, I found myself thinking about who the mysterious girl was who kept showing up in Paul's dreams. After a couple of days, I was more obsessed with the political system of the made-up planet of Caladan than with real-life politics. I could not wait to find out how the geopolitical conflict between the House of Atreides and the entire planet of Arrakis was going to develop. In other words, I was eager for the second part to be released. Thankfully, I only had to wait three years (note the very impatient sarcasm).

Add a couple more years to those first three, and you've got 2026. Finally, the third part of the story is coming soon. This is your official call to rewatch the first two movies, which will probably take you more than a thousand hours, if you're anything like me, who likes to pause the movie on important plot points to do the proper research. This collection of memes will remind you why we love this sci-fi universe, and it will encourage you to dive back into the complex and dramatic world of Dune.

Let’s face it. As much as the length of the first movie surprised us, we cannot deny it is a complete work of art. The intricate costumes, the never-ending sand landscapes, and the flawless score. And, as the trilogy unfolds, it all just keeps getting better and better. Not to mention the continuous flow of unmatched talented actors who keep appearing with every release. They already had Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet, but they just had to add Florence Pugh and Austin Butler into the mix.
I must confess I am now a fan. Ever since that first movie theater experience, I have discovered the true magic behind the universe of Dune, and the intriguing transformations of each character. By the way, I never thought I could love and hate a villain equally. So much so that it takes me back to the love and hate I had for Anakin Skywalker. Hey! Now that I mentioned it, this release brought back the millenary feud: Which sci-fi story is the best? Dune or Star Wars? You’re welcome; I just gave you the best reason to fight your friends. Hopefully we can live in a world in which they both coexist because I love them both so much.
